Join us for the Annual Membership Meeting on Monday, November 10, at 6:30 pm at the Beulah Brinton House. Committees will present their reports on BVHS activities.Current members will vote for our slate of new and renewing board members.

Following the meeting, Greg Wernish will present his program, “Milwaukee’s Largest Newspaper and the Trucks that Delivered the News.”Wernisch, a former BV Historical Society board member, worked at The Journal all through his college career, having driven all of the wide variety of trucks in the Journal’s 100+ vehicle fleet.The afternoon Journal was founded in 1882 and acquired the morning Sentinel from Hearst in 1962.The Sunday Journal was started in 1911.

During Greg’s time at The Journal (The “J”) the Milwaukee newspapers were distributed through a network of about 90 “stations,” three of which were in Bay View. That has changed drastically, and Greg will tell you about it.A few items of Journal memorabilia will be on display, including a compendium of newsletters targeted to “Newsboys” in the mid-1930s. A copy of Greg’s article will be available to all session attendees.
