Dear Bay View Historical Society Membership:
May your reading of The Historian be complemented by early season flower blooms, sunnier skies and
temperatures that bring us closer to the outdoors.
Continuing with that optimistic theme, I am so happy to announce that our Annual Appeal this year outpaced
last year’s by over $5,000. And while the fiscal health of the Society is important and continues to be strong,
the notes that accompany membership and donations are equally rewarding… Notes that thank the volunteers,
members and Board dating back to the inception of the society for their time and commitment to the Society…
Handwritten letters sharing stories of how the Society enriched the life of a family member… Positive feedback
about the quality and details shared in The Historian.
These provide continued reinforcement to all of us who have dedicated time and treasure to the Society. Our
organization has been and continues to be important to so many people in our wonderful community.
In the spirit of continuing to move the Society forward, please find multiple notes below:
- In line with our Annual Appeal, the Board is reviewing next steps both for landscaping services and student
internships to support the Society’s work. More updates will be shared on both of these items soon. - The Annual Landmarking event will be held this year on June 27 at 1:00 pm. All BVHS members and the
community are invited to join. - The annual August Walk hosted by Ron Winkler will be held this year on August 8 at 9:30 am. All BVHS
members and the community are invited to join. - Grace Pelisek started and will continue to host a Children’s Reading Hour at the Brinton House. Upcoming
dates will be found on our website under the Calendar of Events. - The Board is currently working to plan the Annual Dinner this summer or early fall. Construction at the
South Shore Yacht Club required us to push back this date.
Thank you to the team (editor, design, writers) who continue to make The Historian an important part of the Society.
As always, we are actively seeking volunteers to support upcoming events, marketing and communications and
additional Board Members.
